Terraria: Progression Guide from Spawn to Moon Lord
The complete progression path through Terraria's bosses and key items, from wooden tools to endgame.
Pre-Boss: Build Your Foundation
Before fighting anything, establish a base with a Workbench, Furnace, and Anvil. Mine Copper/Tin and Iron/Lead for your first armour set. Build a house for the Guide NPC and place torches everywhere โ this is important for NPC spawn requirements later.
First Bosses
- King Slime โ optional, drops Slimmer Banner and Slimy Saddle. Skip if you want.
- Eye of Cthulhu โ the real first boss. Requires 10 Lens to summon (Suspicious Looking Eye) or spawns naturally once you have 200HP/10 defense. Drops Demonite/Crimtane.
- Eater of Worlds / Brain of Cthulhu โ depends on your world's Corruption or Crimson biome. Drops materials for Shadow Scale/Tissue Armour.
Pre-Hardmode Progression Path
- Defeat Eye of Cthulhu โ Shadow/Crimson armour
- Build hellevator to Hell โ Molten armour (best pre-Hardmode)
- Defeat Skeletron โ access Dungeon and Muramasa/Cobalt Shield
- Defeat Wall of Flesh โ triggers Hardmode
Hardmode โ The Second Half of the Game
Wall of Flesh defeat generates Hallowed and Corruption/Crimson stripes across your world and unlocks new ores. Mine Cobalt/Palladium first, then Mythril/Orichalcum, then Adamantite/Titanium.
Hardmode boss order: Mechanical Bosses (Destroyer, Skeletron Prime, Twins) โ Plantera โ Golem โ Lunatic Cultist โ Lunar Events โ Moon Lord.
The transition to Hardmode is jarring โ surface enemies become immediately lethal. Mine ores at night underground, not on the surface, until you have Cobalt armour.
Moon Lord
Moon Lord is the final boss, summoned by defeating all four Lunar Events. He has three phases and requires end-game gear (Solar Flare, Nebula, Vortex, or Stardust armour). The best arena: a long, flat platform in the air with campfires and heart lanterns placed every 30 tiles for regeneration.
