Spring Year 1 โ€” The Foundation

Your most important spring crops are Strawberries (from the Egg Festival on Spring 13) and Cauliflower (high gold-quality value). Don't spend all your starting gold on seeds โ€” keep 500g in reserve for emergencies.

Plant Parsnips in week 1 to generate quick income. Reinvest into Potatoes week 2. By week 3, you should be able to buy Cauliflower seeds.

The Mines โ€” Priority One

Reach Level 40 of the mines before Spring ends. This unlocks the first Frozen Geode tier and is required to complete Willy's quest. The mines provide Copper (for tools), Iron (for better tools), and eventually Gold.

Tool upgrades happen at the Blacksmith and take two days. Upgrade your Watering Can first โ€” it saves the most time. Upgrade it at the start of a rainy day so you don't lose watering time.

Community Center vs. Joja Mart

You'll discover the Community Center in town, which requires collecting Bundle items across the game's seasons. Completing Bundles is the recommended path โ€” it's free and unlocks meaningful rewards. Donating to Joja costs significant gold for the same outcomes. Most players ignore Joja entirely.

Summer Crops

Blueberries are the best summer crop โ€” they produce multiple harvests per plant throughout the season. Plant as many as you can afford in week 1 of Summer. Starfruit is also excellent if you have the Oasis seeds from Summer, producing the most gold per tile in the game.

Social โ€” Who to Talk To Daily

Giving one gift per person per week builds friendship. Prioritize the characters needed for their specific Bundles. Robin and Clint are practical โ€” Robin can upgrade your house, Clint upgrades tools. Linus is worth befriending for the foraging skill tip early.
