Celeste Movement Tech: Dash Cancels, Hypers, and Wavedashes
Advanced movement techniques for faster traversal and reaching optional areas in Celeste.
Hyper Dash
A Hyper Dash is performed by dashing diagonally downward just before hitting the ground, then jumping immediately. It launches you forward at high speed โ much faster than a normal run-jump. It doesn't require precision once you get the feel for the timing.
Input: Dash down-forward โ land โ jump immediately. You'll slide forward with maintained momentum.
Super Dash (Wavedash)
Similar to a Hyper Dash but performed from a wall jump. Dash into the wall at a slight downward angle, wall jump, and you maintain the dash momentum into the jump. Used to clear very long horizontal gaps.
Neutral Jump
Normally, jumping off a wall pushes you away from it. A Neutral Jump lets you jump straight up from a wall without horizontal movement โ useful for tight vertical corridors. Hold toward the wall while pressing jump.
Dash Cancel
Grabbing a wall or landing during a dash immediately cancels it and resets the dash cooldown visually โ but your dash meter only refills at a Crystal. Use wall grabs to rapidly reposition during complex sequences.
Dream Dash Chaining
Dream blocks let you dash through them. You can chain multiple dashes through consecutive dream blocks without touching the ground, refreshing your dash on each block. This opens up enormous sequence-breaking routes in later chapters.
